This site is a beta, which means it's a work in progress and we'll be adding more to it over the next few weeks. Your feedback helps us make things better, so please let us know what you think.
Let’s Talk is our new community survey initiative that aims to understand the needs of our local communities and enables you to share any concerns with our officers.
What we want to know
We want to know what it’s like to live in your area - what the issues you face are and how can we work with others to make our communities safer and stronger.
Why do we want to know this?
As part of our commitment to make Hampshire and the Isle of Wight safe for everyone we want to be sure that we’re tackling the things that matter most to those we’re keeping safe. You know your local area better than anyone.
Our Neighbourhood officers are fully aware of the impact local problems can cause. They are committed to listening to your concerns and to addressing the issues that will make a difference to your daily lives.
Get involved
If you see one of our officers or PCSOs knocking at your door, please spare a few minutes to talk to them. Alternatively, you can have your say online by visiting https://survey.hampshirealert.co.uk/
Members of our community messaging systems Hampshire Alert and Isle of Wight Alert will then receive updates from their neighbourhood policing team about the action taken based on the feedback we receive.
What is Let’s Talk?
Let’s Talk enables you to share any concerns with our officers via a short survey.
We’ll be both knocking on doors in local communities to speak with local residents and sharing the link to the survey online, with our aim being to hear the views as many households across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight as possible.
How does Let’s Talk address issues in my area?
The information we gather from your participation in Let’s Talk will help us improve the area where you live, identify vulnerabilities and help others.
This is also an opportunity for you to make a difference in your own communities. By actively letting us know what your concerns are, we and our partners can actively help you to make a change where you live.
At the touch of a button our officers can use the information collected through the survey to pinpoint exactly what and where the issues are – whether that be a street, a school, a shop, or a park – and address those issues along with the council and our other partner agencies.
How does Let’s Talk work?
Let’s Talk is primarily a doorstep chat between you and our officers. You’ll be asked some key questions which should take no more than ten minutes. However we know some of our communities would prefer to do the survey online, which can be completed using the link above.
Do I have to participate in Let’s Talk?
No, you are under no obligation to take part in Let’s Talk. However, we would encourage you to do so to enable you to have your say and help drive aspects of neighbourhood policing in your area. Working in this way creates a personalised policing response by area and enables better outcomes for local people, meaning we can target our activity and problem solving more effectively.
How can I keep updated with action taken via Let’s Talk?
When you take part in the survey, you’ll be asked if you’d like to become a member of Hampshire Alert and Isle of Wight Alert, our community messaging systems. Members of these systems will then receive updates directly into their inbox from their neighbourhood policing team about the action taken based on the feedback we receive.
