Policing by consent depends on delivering a fair, effective and impartial service to all communities. We are committed to treating people with fairness and respect, acting without fear or favour, and ensuring our policies, decisions and use of powers are lawful, proportionate and do not discriminate.
We recognise that trust must be earned. We will listen to communities, use data and scrutiny to understand where outcomes differ, and take action where disparity is unfair, unexplained or cannot be justified.
We will not always get everything right. Where we fall short, we will be open, accountable and focused on learning and improvement. We will continue to work with our staff networks, partners, independent advisers and community representatives to help shape how we police.
We continually review our local approach to race equality to ensure it remains current, proportionate and aligned with the National Plan. Through this ongoing work, we are committed to strengthening fairness, public confidence, and the quality of service we provide to all communities.
