The West Wight Neighbourhood Policing Team has secured three partial closure orders on properties in Newport, which should improve life for people living in the vicinity.

It gives police the power to arrest anyone other than those who are authorised on the court order who enter or remain at the properties within the next three months.
Yesterday (Wednesday 20 May) Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court was presented with evidence of drug-related anti-social behaviour and criminal activity at the three locations. Police have received reports of excessive noise, drug paraphernalia littered in communal areas, and peoples attending whilst under the influence of drink and drugs throughout the day and night at Nippert Court, and at two addresses on West Street.
The partial closure order was granted, and it now means that no-one other than those authorised on the court order will be allowed to enter or remain at the addresses for the next three months.
If they do, they will be committing a criminal offence and can be arrested.
The order was obtained following partnership work with our officers from our Neighbourhood Policing Team and housing providers Southern Housing and Vectis Housing.
West Wight Neighbourhoods Sergeant Chantal Miller said: “We are committed to addressing drug-related harm, a West Wight Neighbourhood Team Priority, and the impact this has on neighbours and the wider community.
“This order gives us additional powers to tackle individuals behaving in an anti-social manner and to tackle criminal activity in and around these properties. I hope this order shows that we will do all we can to stop anti-social behaviour and the enormous impact it creates."
If you have witnessed or been affected by anti-social behaviour in the area, please continue to report it to police, so we can target our patrols and take further proactive action.
Anyone with information about anti-social behaviour is asked to contact police on 101, or submit information to us online via our reporting tool here: https://www.hampshire.police.uk/ro/report/asb/asb-v3/report-antisocial-behaviour/
