The family of a motorcyclist who died following a collision in Southampton have released a tribute.
Emergency services were called just after 1.20am on Saturday 25 April to a collision involving a silver Volkswagen Polo and a black Yamaha YZF motorbike on Northam Bridge.
The rider of the motorcycle, 17-year-old Zain Shaw from Fareham, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His family have today released the following tribute to him:
Zain was a brave, funny and deeply loyal young man who brought light and laughter into our lives. He was loved by his family and friends more than words can express. His warmth, kindness and spirit will remain with us always.
Our hearts are broken but we take comfort in the memories we shared and the joy he gave us in his 17 years. Zain loved riding his motorbike, and we take comfort in knowing he was out doing something he loved.
We have been overwhelmed by the support and kind messages we’ve received and we are truly grateful for everyone who has reached out. We also want to thank the emergency services for their efforts at the scene and for their compassion and support during this unimaginable time.
The investigation into the collision continues.
Two people, a 17-year-old boy and a 29-year-old man from Southampton, who were in the VW Polo were arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless/inconsiderate driving.
The 17-year-old has since been released from custody and will face no further action in relation to this offence.
The 29-year-old man has been released but remains under investigation whilst our enquiries continue.
Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 44260192933.
