A man has been arrested after officers located suspected Class A drugs following a foot chase in Basingstoke yesterday (10 May).
Officers were carrying out patrols when they were contacted by a Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council Community Safety Patrol Officer who noticed suspected drug-related activity in the West Ham Park playground on Worting Road.
A group of people immediately attempted to run away from the scene, but a man was quickly detained by police officers after a short foot chase.
Officers then located a bottle which contained suspected Class A drugs, believed to be crack cocaine and heroin. They also found £740 in cash. All items were seized.
A 23-year-old man from Ferndale, Wales, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A x 2.
He remains in custody while our enquiries continue.
