Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft following a police foot pursuit in Basingstoke.
We were called to a report that people wearing balaclavas were seen carrying bolt cutters and were attempting to gain access to bike sheds on Houndmills Road.
Officers attended the scene at around 9pm last night (7 June) and detained two teenagers following a short foot pursuit.
Bolt croppers were found nearby, and a lock knife and rubber gloves were found in one of the teenager’s pockets. The other teenager was found to be in possession of cannabis.
A 16-year-old boy from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft and possessing a controlled drug of Class B.
A 14-year-old boy from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft and possessing a knife blade / sharp pointed article in a public place.
They have been bailed with conditions to allow for further enquiries to be carried out.
