Man, 49, charged with burglary offences in Stockbridge and Littleton

A man has been charged with burglary offences in Stockbridge and Littleton.

Officers received a report that a handbag had been stolen from an address on Deane Down Drove in Littleton on Tuesday 31 March. A stolen bank card was then used to withdraw £200 from the ATM outside Tesco Express on Priors Dean Road in Winchester.

We also received a report that a handbag had been stolen from an address on Nelson Close, Stockbridge, on Monday 1 June and an attempt was made to use a bank card at the same ATM. 

Officers launched an investigation and made an arrest in connection with the reports after they stopped a man driving a car in Chandler’s Ford yesterday (8 June).

David Wells, 49, of no fixed abode, has since been charged with:

• Burglary dwelling and theft – no violence x 2
• Fraud by false representation x 2
• Drive whilst disqualified
• Use a motor vehicle on a road / public place without third party insurance

He is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court today (9 June).
