A driver has been arrested after suspected Class A drugs were found in a car following a fail-to-stop incident in Basingstoke last night.
An officer from the Road Policing Unit was on patrol when he noticed suspicious activity linked to a Vauxhall Astra on Worting Road at around 9pm on Sunday 14 June.
The driver failed to stop and made off at speed before eventually coming to a stop on Townsend Close two minutes later.
He exited the vehicle but was arrested following a short foot chase. A large amount of suspected Class A drugs was located inside the car.
A 32-year-old man from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of:
Due to other items found inside the vehicle, a 47-year-old woman from Basingstoke was later arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug.
They both remain in custody while our enquiries continue.
