Two teenage boys have been arrested and remain in police custody following the implementation of additional stop and search powers in Totton.
One 16-year-old boy from Totton was arrested yesterday evening (Sunday 29 December) on suspicion of possession of a knife blade / sharp pointed article in a public place, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and a public order offence.
A second 16-year-old boy from Totton was arrested yesterday evening on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
The additional stop and search powers, which are allowed under Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, covered an area of Totton between 4pm and midnight yesterday.
The Section. 60 was authorised following information received, which indicated the potential for violent disorder in the area.
The arrests were the result of additional patrols and stop and searches in the area concerned.
