Tribute has today been paid to a man who sadly died after a collision in Winchester earlier this month.
Robert George Soper, 81, of Bereweeke Road, Winchester, was walking on Andover Road North, Winchester, at 7.50am on January 10, when the collision, involving a Peugeot 807 and Land Rover Discovery happened.
Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Robert’s family have today paid tribute to him.
They said: “Robert George Soper was known to everyone as Bob. He was happily married to his wife Diane for 58 years.
“Bob was father to David and Richard, and father in law to Mark and Georgie. He was the loving grandad of Matthew and Emily.
“Recently settled in Winchester, Bob spent most of his life living in and working around Itchen Abbas.
“He was a quiet, contented man with a warm heart that was full of mischief.
“He is much missed by his family and friends.”
Enquiries into the exact circumstances of the collision are ongoing and officers investigating are still keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident and has not already contacted us.
