We’re appealing for witnesses to a serious collision which took place in Southampton.
At around 6.20pm on Thursday 7 May, a moped and a black Ford Transit van collided at the junction of Kendal Avenue and Sedbergh Road.
The moped was being ridden by a 13-year-old boy who sustained a broken ankle and a head injury – this is not deemed life-threatening. He remains in hospital at this time.
The driver of the van initially stopped at the scene, however returned to the vehicle and left the area prior to the arrival of the emergency services.
We are urging this driver, or anyone who knows him, to contact police. He has been described as white, over 6ft tall with dark hair, and wearing dark-coloured shorts, a dark-coloured T-shirt with a small white logo on the chest, and ‘work’ footwear (described as looking like safety shoes or boots).
The van is reported to have sustained damage to the bodywork around the rear offside wheel arch, and the rear offside hubcap came off.
We are also keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or the events leading up to it, or who may have captured this on Dash Cam.
This incident remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting 44260214914. You can also submit information to us online here: https://www.hampshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/
