Police were called at 7.42pm on Saturday 4 July to a report of a four-vehicle collision on the A287 Farnham Road, between the junctions Calf Lane and Chalky Lane.

The collision involved two Harley Davidson motorbikes, a car (BMW X3) and a motorhome van (LDV Maxus).

At the time of the collision, it’s reported that three of the vehicles were travelling in an eastbound direction, while the LDV Maxus was travelling in a westbound direction.

One of the motorcyclists, a man in his 50s from Thames Ditton, Surrey, was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. His family have been notified and are being supported by specialist officers.

The second motorcyclist, a man in his 30s from Farnham, Hampshire, suffered serious injuries and was taken by paramedics to Southampton General Hospital where he remains.

The driver of the BMW X3, from Basingstoke, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by careless/inconsiderate driving and driving a motor vehicle whilst unfit through drugs. He has since been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.

The driver of the LDV Maxus has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, causing death by dangerous driving and has been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Edward Crofts, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are investigating a collision in which a motorcyclist has sadly lost their life. I would ask that any witnesses, or anyone with dash camera footage of any of the vehicles involved, whether prior to or at the time of the collision, to come forward to assist the investigation.

“Our thoughts remain with all those affected by the collision, in particular the families of the two motorcyclists, one of whom is seriously injured, the other who sadly passed away.”
