Appeal for witnesses after woman approached and followed by man in Whiteley

We’re investigating an incident that occurred in Whiteley yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 3 December) and are asking anyone with information to get in touch.

Between 3.05pm and 3.30pm, a woman in her 20s was walking along a footpath between Whiteley Way and Bluebell Way when she crossed paths a number of times with a man she did not know.

On two of these occasions the man made sexualised comments towards the woman. The woman ran off and the man followed in her direction.

She was not physically harmed during this incident.

The man is described as:

• Asian/dark skinned
• Aged in his 30s
• 5ft 6ins tall
• Slim
• Short dark hair
• Stubble
• Wearing a khaki gilet with a hoodie underneath, tracksuit bottoms, and trainers

Officers are following up enquiries and will be conducting patrols in the area.
