We are appealing for information following the serious assault of a man in Basingstoke.
It was reported to us on Friday (5 January) that on Friday 29 December an 18-year-old man had been assaulted by a man unknown to him on Oakridge Road at approximately 11.05pm.
It was reported that the man had got out of a black/grey sports car, similar to a Golf GTI, with under lighting shortly before the junction with Upton Crescent and assaulted the victim.
The victim sustained significant facial injuries including a broken orbital bone. He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.
Since this incident was reported to us we have been investigating a number of lines of enquiry in order to identify the man responsible and determine the circumstances of what took place.
As part of our enquiries we are now turning to the public for help. Were you in the area of Oakridge Road at around 11pm on Friday 29 December and recall seeing an assault?
We are particularly keen to hear from a person who was standing next to the Tesco Express store who we believe saw what happened.
Anyone with any information that may assist our enquiries is asked to call 101 quoting reference 44240006957.
