Appeal for information following house burglary in Havant

Main article content

Appeals
Published: 09:02 06/01/2023

We are appealing for information following a burglary in Havant on Tuesday morning (January 3).

At approximately 8.30am, two men entered a property on Hursley Road and stole a French Bulldog puppy.

They then left the address and ran away in the direction of Testwood Road, leading onto Bramdean Drive.

Both men are described as:

  • Black
  • Slim build
  • Approximately 6ft tall
  • Both were wearing all black clothing, possibly in puffer jackets. Both men were wearing black balaclavas and black gloves.

We do not have an approximate age for the men, however we believe they were both aged between 16 and 30-years-old.

Officers have been conducting extensive lines of enquiry since this incident was reported to us and are now asking the public for any information that may assist our investigation.

Were you in the area at the time? Did you see these two men running from the address or near the address? Did you see these men holding a puppy?

We believe a silver car, seen in the area at the time, may have been involved in this incident. Did you see two men getting into or exiting a silver car in the area?

We are asking anyone who saw anything to please report it to us. Perhaps you were driving through the area at the time and have dash cam footage that may assist our enquiries? Or maybe you live locally and have CCTV or Ring Doorbell footage? We are particularly interested in any footage from between 8.20am and 8.40am on Tuesday 3 January.

We would also like to hear from you if you have been offered the pictured French Bulldog puppy for sale.

We would like to reassure our residents that we believe this to be an isolated incident at the current time.

Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting reference 44230002511. Alternatively go online and submit information via https://www.hampshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/

We would like to take this opportunity to remind you of some steps you can take to protect your home from burglary:

  • Close and lock all your doors and windows
  • Double-lock any door
  • Make sure that any valuables are out of sight
  • Make sure any side gates, sheds and garages are locked to prevent access to your property via your garden or garage.

Additionally, if you are advertising puppies for sale make sure you do not disclose your address within the advert and ensure that any dogs or puppies within your property are microchipped.
