Officers are continuing to appeal for information following a serious assault in Basingstoke.
At 11.41pm on Wednesday, 1 February police were called to a playing field in Tewkesbury Close, Popley after a 19-year-old man sustained what is believed to be three gun-shot wounds to his leg.
The victim was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Officers have been carrying out searches in the park today and conducting house to house enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Justin Dipper, said: “Members of the community will have noticed an increased police presence in the area today while we’ve carried out a number of enquiries in relation to this incident.
“We have been conducting searches of the park as well as carrying out house to house enquiries at addresses in the surrounding area.
“As part of our investigation we would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident or has any information.
“Were you in the area at the time? Did you see or hear anything suspicious? Perhaps you live nearby and have private CCTV including Ring-Doorbell that may have captured something? If you were driving in the area, do you have dash-cam that might have captured something?
“Please be assured that any contact made with us will be in the strictest confidence. If you’re still unsure about speaking to the police, you can submit information anonymously via Crimestoppers.
“We understand this incident may have caused concern amongst the community. The increased police presence will continue into the evening and throughout the weekend. If you have any concerns or information please don’t hesitate to speak to one of our officers.”
An 18-year-old man from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has been released on police bail to return on 2 May.
