We are appealing for information following an altercation in Hilsea on Monday evening (3 April).
Between 5.30pm and 6pm an altercation broke out between two men on a grassed area outside of a block of flats opposite the Northern Parade Co-op store in Hilsea.
One of the men, who is in his 50s, sustained a fractured eye socket and bruising to his face and body as a result of the incident.
Investigating officers have arrested a 52-year-old man from Portsmouth on suspicion of Section 18 Grievous Bodily Harm with intent and threats to damage/destroy property. He has been released from police custody on conditional bail while our enquiries continue.
As part of our enquiries, we would now like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened.
We believe that there were a number of people in the area at the time, and believe that some may have recorded the incident on their phones.
Were you in the area at the time? Did you see what happened? Perhaps you have footage of the incident that may assist our investigation? Or maybe you were driving along Northern Parade at the time and have dash cam footage of the incident that may help our enquiries?
Anyone with information should call 101 quoting reference 44230132042.
