Summary of allegations
Outcome
The panel concluded that allegation one was not proven.
With regards to allegation two, the panel concluded that the officer did fail to act upon evidence regarding the wrongful arrest, however they did not find that this impacted on the length of time the member of the public was in custody for.
For allegation three, the panel ruled that the officer did fail to mention evidence regarding text messages when making a second statement, but the allegations relating to a telephone call and first statement were not proven.
The panel ruled that the failure to act was a breach in the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of Integrity and Discreditable Conduct.
Sanction
The officer received a written warning for 18 months.
