Summary of allegations
It is alleged that PC Martin misused police systems to conduct research in connection with a member of the public who had made a complaint against him.
It is also alleged that PC Martin failed to act upon work information regarding the arrest of a member of the public, resulting in the person being detained for longer than was necessary.
The officer is also alleged to have failed to mention the work information he was in possession of on two separate occasions, when making statements in relation to this incident.
It is alleged that these offences are a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour namely Honesty and Integrity and Duties and Responsibilities
It is assessed that these matters individually and collectively amount to gross misconduct, namely a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour that, if proved, is so serious that this officer’s dismissal would be justified.
