This site is a beta, which means it's a work in progress and we'll be adding more to it over the next few weeks. Your feedback helps us make things better, so please let us know what you think.
Our volunteers assist police officers, Special constables, PCSOs and police staff in various capacities to enable us to focus on community priorities and visible policing.
You could be carrying out tasks as varied as organising community meetings, making sure photographs of the team are up to date, or researching community issues and crime trends. Volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds including students, people who are employed, those looking for work and retired people. Volunteering for us is an excellent way to gain valuable skills, enhance your CV or simply provide you with some variety. The hours are often flexible to fit in with you and your commitments – we appreciate as much or as little as you can spare.
We post all our volunteering opportunities on our main recruitment site. To volunteer for us, you need to be of good character without any previous criminal convictions. We’ll check your details against police systems – unfortunately, if information comes to light which calls in to question your suitability, both when you apply or later, it may mean we may have to remove you from the scheme.
Please note, applications for Community SpeedWatch can only be accepted if we’ve got a scheme running in your area already. Find out more about setting up a scheme. If you’re thinking about applying for StudentWatch, you’ll need to be currently studying at a college or university that are taking part.
If you need help completing your application, or if you want to talk to us about volunteering generally, please email [email protected]
