Retail Crime Journey
If urgent, an officer will attend. If deemed non-urgent, the crime will be allocated to a local officer (OIC)
The OIC will contact the victim through the Victim’s Portal and will begin the investigation
Victim will be asked for a statement and any witness details (known as MG11s). A NICE DEMS link will be provided for uploading digital evidence, if this cannot be done then the OIC will collect the evidence manually
The OIC will progress enquiries and keep the victim updated
If there is insufficient evidence then the crime will be filed, storing all collected evidence should the offence be reconsidered in the future
If the subject (offender) involved is identified & engaged with by police, the victim will be kept updated on any decisions made
