Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is committed to doing all we can in tackling business crime, however this is an area in which we continue to see vast amounts of reporting. In some instances we will need to prioritise those crimes involving prolific & violent offenders along with high value incidents.
In order for us to achieve the standard required for progression, we require CCTV and supporting evidence in a timely manner. To be able to make this clearer please see the below guide:
We require any business or retailer reporting a shoplifting to ensure the following:
Our preferred method of receiving clear CCTV footage is via NICE DEMS, which is a digital evidence management system. NICE DEMS gives you the option to upload footage and other supporting digital evidence safety and efficiently for the police to access. If your business is not currently using this system, we encourage you to speak with whoever is in charge of your CCTV systems to see if this could be implemented - all you need is a working computer and internet access.
Using NICE DEMS helps to expedite the investigation and disrupt the suspect quicker so that we can reduce further offences.
