Witness appeal

We are appealing for witnesses after a woman was left in a critical condition following a collision in Bitterne.

Officers were called just after 2am on Sunday (12 November) to reports of a collision involving a white taxi and a female pedestrian on Bitterne Road West.

The 18-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries and is currently in a critical condition at Southampton General Hospital.

The male taxi driver was uninjured.

PC Dave Hazlett said: “This collision happened opposite the BP petrol station and we know that this area was quite busy with traffic going to and from the city centre.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area around this time who may have seen what happened or saw either the car or woman prior to the collision.”
