Two men injured in assault incident

We are appealing for witnesses after two men suffered injuries in an assault incident in Portsmouth.

It was reported that between 6pm and 6.30pm on Monday 10 July, a 29-year-old man had a verbal exchange with another man on Astley Street before being assaulted, leaving him with injuries to his face.

A third man, aged 54 years, tried to intervene and suffered serious injuries to his leg as a result.

The suspect has been described as:

• Black

• Aged 25-30 years

• Approximately 5ft 9ins tall

• Large build

• Short black hair

• Wearing a black t-shirt

Detective Constable Sharon Lewry said: “Were you in the area at this time? Did you see what happened?

“We would like to hear from witnesses to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident, which left two men injured.

“If you saw what happened, please call us.”
