Appeal for witnesses following fatal collision near Lymington

We are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in the New Forest last night (Monday 12 February).

Officers were called at 8.44pm to a report of a road traffic collision on the B3054 Main Road, Walhampton, near Lymington.

The collision involved a grey Skoda Octavia and a white Ford Transit van.

The driver of a Skoda Octavia, a 72-year-old man from Portland, Dorset, sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The 39-year-old male driver of the van was uninjured.

Officers investigating the exact circumstances of the collision would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened, or who saw either vehicle prior to the incident.
