Witness appeal

We are appealing for witnesses after a 40-year-old man suffered serious injuries near to Lower Banister Street this morning (Wednesday 13 June).

We were called at 12.33am to a report of a man who appeared to have sustained a serious head injury. Officers were deployed to the area and cordoned off Salisbury Street and Lower Bannister Street to carry out enquiries. The man was transported to hospital for treatment.

It has since been confirmed the man suffered serious injuries to his face rather than his head and he has received hospital treatment today. His injuries are not life threatening.

Lower Banister Street and the surrounding area is now accessible. We’d like to thank you for your patience while we dealt with this incident.

We are keen to find out how this man sustained these injuries and would ask anyone with any information to contact 101 and quote 44180219811.

If you have any information relating to this case, please call 101 quoting reference '44180219811', or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.
