A man has been arrested following reports of an attempted robbery incident in Basingstoke.
We were called to a report that a staff member at Betfred on London Street had been threatened by a man who demanded cash from the till on Monday 20 January.
It was reported that another person then entered the store and the man left. Nothing was stolen.
We then received a report that a man had attempted to steal steaks from M&S in Festival Place on 22 January.
Officers carried out a number of enquiries and made an arrest yesterday (23 January). During the arrest, officers located suspected Class A drugs.
A 30-year-old man from Basingstoke has been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery, possessing a controlled drug of Class A and theft from a shop.
He remains in custody while our enquiries continue.
