A shoplifter has today been jailed after he stole items worth more than £200 from a store in Aldershot.
Ryan Gibbs, 39, of no fixed abode, stole confectionary items and coffee worth £231 from Co-op on Lower Farnham Road between 10 and 15 December last year.
He was arrested and charged with two counts of theft from a shop.
Gibbs pleaded guilty to both offences and was jailed for a total of eight weeks at Basingstoke Magistrates Court today (21 February).
Police Sergeant Rob Tiller, from the Aldershot Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Our message is clear – shoplifting and this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated in Aldershot.
“Please continue to report incidents like this to us as we will do all we can to put those responsible before the courts.”
