New Milton man sentenced for causing actual bodily harm during domestic incident

A 28-year-old man from New Milton has been sentenced following a domestic-related incident earlier this year.

Jack David Marsden, of Marryat Road, appeared before Southampton Crown Court yesterday (Thursday 19 September).

He had previously pleaded guilty to assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm at an earlier hearing.

Marsden, who had been remanded in custody since his arrest, was sentenced to an 18-month community order and a maximum of five rehabilitation activity requirement days. He must also complete a 30-day accredited programme.

The sentencing follows an incident on Thursday 27 June, during which Marsden assaulted the victim at her home address, leaving her with cuts, bruises and swelling to the head, face and ribs.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary make it clear that nobody – whether that be a woman, a man or a child – should ever be subjected to domestic abuse within an environment that they perceive to be a safe space.
