We have charged a man with possession of a knife in a public place following an incident in Southampton over the weekend.
Shortly after 1am on Saturday (21 September) police received a report that a man had been seen with a knife on Charlotte Place.
The man was located in East Park and detained and searched under Section 1 of the Police & Criminal Evidence Act 1984.
A knife was located and seized and the man was arrested.
Michael James Channing Dorward, 47, of St. Annes Close in Shaftesbury, has now been charged with possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place. He is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court today (Monday 23 September).
