A 44 year-old man has been charged and is due in court following a serious assault on Quay Street in Fareham on Monday (23 September) morning.
At around 11am a 32 year-old man was seriously assaulted in the street. He sought refuge at Fareham Police Station, which was nearby, and received medical treatment. He has been taken to Southampton General Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition, and is being treated for stab wounds to his back.
A man was arrested at the scene and a knife recovered.
Following our enquiries Steven Colin Hardy, 44, of no fixed address has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a knife in a public place, and possession of cannabis. He had been remanded to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court today (Tuesday 24 September) where he was further remanded to next appear in court on Monday 28 October.
