Southampton man jailed for series of residential burglaries across the city

A Southampton man has been jailed for four and a half years after carrying out a series of burglaries in the city earlier this year.
Krystian Szymanski, 40, of Northumberland Road, appeared at Southampton Crown Court last week for sentence, having previously pleaded guilty to six counts of burglary and two counts of attempted burglary.
The charges come after Szymanski gained entry or attempted to gain entry to properties on Arthur Road, Firgrove Road, Amoy Street, Park Road, Hyde Close, Devonshire Road, Bullar Road and Thorold Road between June 9th and August 26th.
Among the items stolen were a garden strimmer, a mountain bike, a purse, two wallets, a laptop, jewellery, tools worth around £3,000 and hundreds of pounds in cash.
An investigation was launched and Szymanski was arrested by police and charged. He appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 3 September where he pleaded guilty to all the offences he had been charged with.
Appearing at Southampton Crown Court on Wednesday (October 16), he was sentenced to four years and six months in prison.
Detective Inspector Jamie Johnson, of Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary’s Western Area Crime Team, which led the investigation, said: “Burglary has a huge effect on those who are targeted, and in carrying out this series of offences Szymanski has demonstrated a clear disregard for the impact on his victims.
“Police work hard to tackle repeat offenders and ensure we disrupt the harm they cause to local residents and businesses.
“Szymanski will now suffer the consequences of his actions, and I hope that the local community can feel reassured that he is now behind bars.”
