A man has been charged in connection with a shoplifting incident following a dedicated day of action targeting street crime and anti-social behaviour in the Shirley area of Southampton.
Officers from the Millbrook and Redbridge Neighbourhood Policing team carried out targeted patrols in Shirley yesterday (Thursday 3 October) as part of their ongoing Operation Gatewatch work targeting shoplifting and anti-social behaviour in the area.
Henok Jonny Beyene, 39, of Millbrook Road West, was arrested and charged with theft from a shop. It comes after several packets of laundry detergent were taken from the Co-op store on Shirley Road in September.
Beyene is next due to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court on Friday 11 April 2025.
