A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary following reports that someone was trying to gain access to properties in the Rooksdown area of Basingstoke.
We were called just after 3am today (10 May) to reports that a man was trying door handles on Pumphouse Way and Oakenshaw Reach. Nothing has been reported stolen.
Officers attended the area and a man tried to flee the scene. A short foot chase ensued and officers detained a man nearby.
A 30-year-old man from Basingstoke has been arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary dwelling with intent to steal.
He remains in custody while our enquiries continue.
