A woman has been jailed for 16 weeks after stealing alcohol and meat products from stores in Fleet.
Isobel Hughes, 28, of no fixed abode, was charged with six counts of theft from a shop.
It comes after officers received reports that alcohol and lamb was stolen from Waitrose in Fleet between 4 April and 7 April.
Meanwhile, alcohol was stolen from Waitrose and Sainsbury’s in the town between 26 January and 29 January.
Hughes pleaded guilty to all charges and was jailed for 16 weeks at Basingstoke Magistrates Court yesterday (4 June).
PC Kevin Massey, from CID North, said: “Isobel Hughes brazenly targeted two different stores in Fleet on a number of occasions.
“Her actions have impacted local businesses, shop workers and the wider community.
“We take reports of this crime extremely seriously and we will do all we can to put offenders before the courts.
“Our message is clear – shoplifting and this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated in Hart and Rushmoor.”
