A man has been jailed for 10 weeks after stealing items worth more than £1,800 from stores in Fleet.
Dale Carter, 33, of no fixed abode, was charged with nine counts of theft from a shop.
It comes after alcohol, meat and skin care products worth a total of £1,869.89 were stolen from Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Boots in Fleet between 11 June and 17 June.
Carter pleaded guilty to all offences and was jailed for a total of 10 weeks after a suspended sentence was activated at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Wednesday 19 June.
PC Neve Fitzgerald, from the Fleet Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Our team takes reports of shoplifting in Fleet extremely seriously.
“Dale Carter’s actions had a huge impact on businesses, shop workers and the wider community.
“I hope this result sends the message that shoplifting in Fleet, and the wider area, will not be tolerated.”
