A man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary following an incident in Basingstoke in the early hours of this morning.
We were called at 1.44am today (4 July) to reports that a property on Lehar Close had been broken into.
A number of items, including a wallet, game console, phone, speakers and a backpack, were stolen from inside the address. A man was apprehended at the scene and was later arrested by officers.
A 39-year-old man from Basingstoke has been arrested on suspicion of burglary dwelling – with intent to steal and criminal damage to property valued under £5,000.
He remains in custody while our enquiries continue.
Officers are appealing for witnesses as we continue to investigate the incident. Were you in the area at the time? Did you see any suspicious behaviour?
