A man has been jailed for shoplifting and assaulting a police officer in Basingstoke.
Jack Harris, 28, of no fixed abode, stole chocolate from WHSmith on Friday 12 July and sun cream worth £101 from Tesco on Carpenters Down on Friday 7 June.
He also assaulted a police officer during his arrest in the town centre on Friday 12 July.
Harris pleaded guilty to two counts of theft from a shop and common assault of an emergency worker. He also admitted failing to comply with a community protection notice.
He was jailed for a total of 12 weeks after a suspended sentence order was activated at Basingstoke Magistrates Court yesterday (15 July).
