A man has been jailed for more than a year for possessing a knife and fighting in Aldershot.
Ibrahim Rashid, 20, of Medway Drive, Farnborough, was charged with possessing a knife blade / sharp pointed article in a public place and affray.
It comes after officers were called to a fight on Wellington Street on Monday 7 November 2022. It was reported that a man was punched multiple times by two men. No injuries were reported.
Officers launched an investigation and arrested two men.
Rashid and another man, Christian Ilie, 21, of no fixed abode, were later charged with affray.
The pair denied the offence but were both found guilty following a trial at Winchester Crown Court.
Meanwhile, officers received reports that a man was in possession of a knife on Queen Elizabeth Drive on Thursday 13 June 2024. Rashid was arrested and charged.
He pleaded guilty to possessing a knife blade / sharp pointed article in a public place.
Rashid was jailed for a total of 60 weeks for both offences at Winchester Crown Court on Wednesday 26 June.
Ilie received a six month custodial sentence, suspended for 18 months.
Police Sergeant Helen Wentworth, from the Hart and Rushmoor Priority Crime Team, said: “I hope this result shows how seriously we take knife crime in the district.
“Our officers will do everything in their power to ensure Hart and Rushmoor is not targeted by people intent on using violence and weapons.
“This was a collective effort between our Priority Crime Unit, District Policing Team and our Violent Crime task force, working together to take this violent individual out of the community.
“We will continue to do everything we can to ensure those responsible will be arrested, charged and put before the courts.”
