Woman, 48, charged with New Milton and Hythe thefts

A 48-year-old woman of Dorset Road, Christchurch has been charged with two counts of theft from the person of another.

Bernadette Christina Whelan was arrested by officers in Dorset Road at 1.45pm yesterday (Sunday 4 February).

It follows reported incidents at the below locations and times;

- Marks & Spencer, Station Road, New Milton on Monday 22 January – reported theft of handbag and purse

- Waitrose, Hythe on Tuesday 7 November 2023 – reported theft of purse

Whelan has been remanded in police custody to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (6 February).
