We have arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with an attempted house burglary in Southampton in 2020.
Officers have been carrying out new DNA analysis from the scene of the offence, which led to the arrest of the man yesterday morning (Thursday 18 April) in Bitterne.
The arrest relates to an incident on Victoria Road in Woolston sometime between October 18 2020 and October 20 2020. The window of a house was smashed in what we believe was an attempt to gain entry to the property. Nothing was taken and no-one was injured during the incident.
The man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and has since been released from police custody on conditional bail to allow for further enquiries to take place.
Our investigation into this incident remains ongoing and we hope that this update demonstrates how we won't stop trying to get justice for victims of crime, no matter when the offence took place.
