A man has been charged in connection with a number of incidents including theft and shouting racist abuse at members of the public and police officers.
Luke Tucker, aged 29, of no fixed abode, was charged with the following offences in Locks Heath and Waterlooville:
- Racially aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress at the Barnardos Charity Shop in Locks Heath Centre on 19 September.
- Two counts of Racially aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress towards police officers on 19 September.
- Theft of alcohol and batteries from Waitrose in the Locks Heath Centre on 19 September.
- Using threatening or abusive words/behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress at the Locks Heath Centre on 19 September.
- Using threatening or abusive words/behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress at Waitrose in the Locks Heath Centre on 19 September.
- Criminal damage to a police van on 19 September.
- Criminal damage to a sign at Purbrook Day Nursery on London Road, Waterlooville, on 20 September.
- Using threatening or abusive words/behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress at Purbrook Day Nursery on London Road, Waterlooville, on 20 September.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday 21 September).
