Officers investigating the serious assault of a man in his 20s in Southampton yesterday evening (Thursday 26 October) have arrested two men.
We received a call at 6pm with reports that a man had sustained stab wounds during an assault in Laburnum Road.
He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition. His injuries are not considered life threatening at the current time.
Police attended the location and have remained in the area overnight and into this morning.
A 30-year-old man and a 51-year-old man from Southampton have now been arrested in connection with this incident and remain in custody at the current time.
Southampton Chief Inspector Chris Douglas said: “Officers have been in the area throughout the night carrying out proactive patrols, as well as making use of additional Stop & Search powers under a Section 60 order which was implemented overnight.
“We remain in the area today and you can expect to see an increased police presence as we follow every line of enquiry available to us in order to understand the circumstances and locate those responsible.
“We know how concerning this level of violence can be to local residents and I want you to know that we are working hard today to progress our enquiries into this incident. Please approach officers if you have any concerns, questions or information.”
