Officers investigating a public order incident in Odiham have made their seventh and eighth arrests as part of their investigation.

Police were called at around 3.15pm on Sunday 8 October to reports of a disturbance involving two groups of people at a site off the A287 Farnham Road, near the Chalky Lane junction.

A man sustained an injury to his head from what we believe to be a strike with a crowbar, while a man at the scene was also reportedly seen with a gun. We believe all the parties involved are known to each other.

Since it was reported to us, officers have been carrying out extensive enquiries and have now arrested a total of eight men.

Officers arrested two men this morning (13 November).

A 38-year-old man from Mortimer Common was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, violent disorder and criminal damage to property valued under £5,000.

A 22-year-old man from Bramley was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and violent disorder.

Both men remain in custody while our enquiries are ongoing.

It comes after officers made six arrests throughout October:

  • On 29 October, a 26-year-old man from Wokingham was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent, violent disorder and burglary other than dwelling – theft. He has been bailed with conditions until 29 January 2024 while our enquiries continue.
  • On 12 October, a 21-year-old man from Wokingham was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and violent disorder. He has been bailed with conditions until 12 January 2024 while our enquiries continue.
  • On 11 October, a 25-year-old man from Odiham and a 33-year-old man from Reading were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. The pair have been bailed with conditions until 11 January 2024 while our enquiries continue.
  • On 8 October, officers arrested two men. A 40-year-old man from Odiham was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, theft of motor vehicle, aggravated vehicle taking and affray. A 25-year-old man from Odiham was arrested on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle, grievous bodily harm with intent and affray. Both men have been bailed with conditions until 8 January 2024 while our enquiries continue.

Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone who has any information about what happened to contact us.

In particular, we want to hear from motorists who were driving on the A287 Farnham Road near Odiham at around 3.15pm on Sunday 8 October. You may hold footage that could be important to our investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact us on 101, quoting Op Timely or the reference number 44230411773, or you can submit information by going to our website: https://www.hampshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/
