Teenage boys arrested in connection with series of offences in Freshwater

Officers investigating a number of offences in Freshwater, including a burglary, have arrested two boys.

Police were called at 4.45pm yesterday (Wednesday 11 January) with reports of a burglary in progress at an empty address in Avenue Road, Freshwater.

Attending officers arrested two teenage boys from Freshwater nearby, aged 13 and 14 respectively.

They were arrested on suspicion of burglary, but were also arrested on suspicion of the following offences:

• Theft of Red Bull from Sainsbury’s on School Green Road in Freshwater on 5 January 2023.
• Harassment, relating to an incident at Sainsbury’s on School Green Road in Freshwater on 7 January 2023.
• Theft of coffee cups from Sainsbury’s on School Green Road in Freshwater on 7 January 2023.
• Criminal damage to a door at Sainsbury’s on School Green Road in Freshwater on 6 January 2023.
• Theft of chocolate from Sainsbury’s on School Green Road in Freshwater on 9 January 2023.

The 13-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of two further criminal damage incidents, relating to damage to doors and a window at an address on Queens Road, Freshwater on 2 January and 4 January 2023.

Both boys have been bailed with conditions until 11 April while further enquiries are conducted, and we encourage anyone with information about these incidents to contact police on 101, quoting 44230013997.
