Officers investigating a distraction burglary at an address in Portsmouth earlier this month have now charged a man.
Karl Chambers, 46, of Eastern Road, has been charged with one count of dwelling burglary and four counts of fraud by false representation.
The charges come after we were called to a report that at approximately 4pm on Saturday 7 January a man rang the doorbell at an address on Twyford Avenue and asked the occupant, a woman in her 90s, for money for charity.
While the victim was distracted the man took her purse from inside the address. Her bank card was used later that day on several occasions.
Chambers has been remanded into custody and is next due to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on Monday 20 February.
