Officers investigating reports of sexual harassment of a teenage girl have arrested a man in connection with the incident.
It comes after we received reports that a man had been visiting a café on The Square in Wickham between Saturday 7 January and Monday 9 January; allegedly making unwanted sexualised comments towards an employee.
It was also reported that the man had left a large tip specifically for the victim – which was refused.
Police have since carried out enquires in the local area; identifying the man and subsequently making an arrest.
A 68-year-old man from Winchester has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to incite a girl 13 to 15 to engage in non-penetrative sexual activity and harassment without violence.
He has since been released on conditional bail until Sunday 16 April pending further police enquiries.
