A man has been jailed for 18 months for burglary and possession of a knife.
Emil Holewik, 53, from Southampton, was sentenced on Friday 17 February at Southampton Crown Court after pleading guilty to one charge of burglary and one charge of possession of a bladed article.
At about 6.30am on 19 October 2022, the residents of an address in Newlands Avenue, Southampton, were woke up by a noise and found a man in their house downstairs.
They took a photo of the man and escorted him out before realising they had ben burgled and various items including alcohol, a laptop, car keys, toys and cash were gone.
Police attended and identified the man in the photo as Holewik.
When officers arrested him on 31 October 2022 they found he was in the possession of a lockable retractable blade.
Holewik was handed an 18 month sentence and the court also ordered the blade to be destroyed.
