Police investigating a burglary at two building sites in Hedge End have arrested a man in connection with the offences.
It comes after a member of the public reported a burglary-in-progress on Kingsman Drive in Botley at around 4.30am this morning (8 August). It is alleged that a number of containers were broken into on the site.
Officers were deployed to the scene and witnessed a number of people fleeing from the scene. A short while later, a vehicle was stopped at the junction of the B3354 and Chancellors Lane.
A 30-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal, going equipped for burglary and possession of a Class B drug. He remains in custody at this time.
A large quantity of the stolen items – including power tools, hand tools, laptops and other electronics – were located and seized by officers for evidential purposes.
