Hampshire Constabulary welcomes Chief Inspector Emma Hart as the new District Commander for policing in Hart and Rushmoor.
Emma joined Hampshire Constabulary in 2002, beginning her 20-year career in Southsea.
She worked in a number of departments and started to tutor and recruit for the force.
In 2009, Emma was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and returned to Portsmouth as a Response and Patrol Sergeant.
During this time, Emma developed a passion for community policing and became a beat Sergeant in Portsmouth.
In 2012, Ch Insp Hart became the Positive Action Co-ordinator and worked at both a local and national level to encourage communities that policing was an accessible career of choice.
This led to her being shortlisted for a national award at the Excellence in Diversity Awards in 2017.
In 2018, Emma was posted to the Portsmouth custody suite, where she developed an interest in criminal justice.
The following year, Ch Insp Hart was deployed to Essex to assist with the tragic lorry deaths incident as part of her role as Casualty Bureau Manager.
This led to Emma working at a regional level to ensure Hampshire and the Isle of Wight had the correct response should a similar incident occur.
In 2020, Emma was promoted to the rank of Inspector and chose to remain within the custody portfolio to gain a better understanding of His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services.
Emma progressed to Acting Chief Inspector of the custody portfolio and this year chose to return to Prevention & Neighbourhoods and made to move to Hart and Rushmoor.
Outside of work, Emma raises two children, enjoys playing cricket and has just become a red stripe in taekwondo.
Ch Insp Emma Hart said: “I am extremely passionate about community policing and I am delighted to have been posted to Hart and Rushmoor.
“I have a motivated team that works incredibly hard to protect those in need and tackle issues that matter to the communities that we serve.
“My priorities for the district are to continue to work in partnership to reduce victim-based crime, reduce youth violence and continue to tackle drug-related harm.
“I want to work across geographical boundaries to reduce rural crime and encourage reporting from the rural community.
“I will also maintain focus on domestic abuse and work with partner agencies to support victims and encourage perpetrators to engage with our programmes.”
